Privacy policy

1. Controller
CookModo is responsible for processing related to this website. For any privacy question, contact privacidad@cookmodo.es.
2. Information we process
Information stored on your device
Your chosen name, language, favourites, history, timer and preferences are stored locally in your browser. CookModo does not receive your name and does not require an account or email address.
Pseudonymous events and aggregate statistics
To understand the app's overall operation, we record individual events linked to a persistent random identifier and use them to produce aggregate statistics. Each event may include approximate country, language, device category, operating system, browser, access method, CookModo version and food card openings. When you explicitly submit a search and it returns no results, we may retain only its normalized term for 90 days to learn which content is missing. We do not record every keystroke, searches with results, empty strings or category browsing. Before storage, we discard email addresses, phone numbers, URLs, obvious addresses, excessively long text and other entries that appear to contain personal data. If the service is temporarily unavailable, valid submissions may be kept in a limited queue on your device until the connection returns. We do not store your IP address, exact device model or fingerprints.
Cloudflare performance measurement
Cloudflare Web Analytics measures page visits and performance with a script that sends metrics to Cloudflare's service through cookmodo.es/cdn-cgi/rum. According to Cloudflare, this measurement does not use cookies or local storage to collect usage metrics. It is separate from the app events described above.
Abuse protection
To prevent abusive automated submissions, the server creates a temporary non-reversible code from the connection. The IP address is not stored and the code expires automatically after a short period.
3. Google AdSense advertising
CookModo has prepared its Google AdSense integration, but advertising is disabled. While it remains disabled, CookModo does not load Google's advertising script or display ads.
When advertising is activated, Google's certified consent management platform will be used in the European Economic Area, United Kingdom and Switzerland. You will be able to accept, reject or manage available purposes before data is used for personalised advertising.
Learn how Google uses information from sites and apps that use its services.
4. Purposes and legal bases
- Provide requested features and save your preferences on the device.
- Obtain aggregate statistics to maintain and improve CookModo.
5. Providers and international transfers
We use hosting and infrastructure providers to publish CookModo and Cloudflare Web Analytics to measure website performance. Google AdSense will only participate when advertising is activated.
6. Retention and control
Local data remains until you use Delete data and prepare uninstall in Settings, clear site data, or choose the browser option to also delete data when uninstalling. Removing only the installed PWA can preserve the site's storage. The reset deletes the name, language, preferences, favourites, history, timer, pending submissions, local databases, caches, and service worker; the next launch creates a new random pseudonymous identifier. Normalized no-result search terms are deleted after 90 days by the analytics cleanup and may be purged earlier during database maintenance. Other pseudonymous events may be retained to produce aggregate statistics; they do not contain your name or email address. Local deletion does not automatically erase events already received by the server.
7. Your rights
You may request information, access, correction, deletion, objection, restriction or portability where applicable. You may also withdraw consent at any time and complain to your local data protection authority.
8. Children
CookModo does not knowingly request personal information from children and does not offer user accounts. Contact us if you believe a child's personal information has been processed.
9. Changes
We will update this policy when features, providers or legal obligations change. The date of the current version appears at the top of this page.
